Seven volunteers at the Unified Basketball Game
Chip and the rest of the team at our Bemidji branch hit the hardwood in support of Bemidji Unified Special Olympics for one of the rarest basketball games of all: The kind when everyone walks out a winner!

The Unified Basketball Game is a big event in town each year, bringing in tons of support from the people of Bemidji. The community event fills the gym, raises awareness, and supports an amazing program that brings so many people together.

Our team in Bemidji loves to volunteer for this event, and this year, the organizers had a new halftime idea: A lighthearted game featuring community mascots vs. local kids.

Affinity Plus has a longstanding partnership with Special Olympics Minnesota, and Bemidji United reached out to get Chip in on the fun with Bucky the Beaver, Lumberjack, Paul Bunyan, and Babe the Blue Ox.

“Volunteering with the Unified program means a lot to our team, and it’s become even more meaningful as some of us now have middle schoolers who are finding their own ways to give back,” said Monica Morris, branch manager in Bemidji. “When the chance came up to help at this year’s event, we didn’t hesitate — and we were excited to bring our kids with us to volunteer alongside us.”

The night was a great success, filled with community pride, teamwork, and a whole lot of smiles. Cheer rang out no matter who scored, and everyone, including the crowd, walked away a winner.

We’re proud to support Bemidji Unified, and to continue investing in the Bemidji community!
