Donating Computers to Families in Need

Distance learning in the pandemic highlighted the need for computers for students across the state.

When it became clear that Minnesota students would be learning from a distance during the pandemic, it also became clear how many families needed the equipment to make that learning possible.

Which is why Affinity Plus partnered with Minnesota Computers for Schools and KARE 11 teamed up to launch Tech Drive Tuesday.

Tech Drive Tuesday

Tech Drive Tuesday is a statewide initiative allowing people to donate used computer equipment on Tuesdays in September.

Minnesota Computers for Schools repurposes or refurbishes all donations that are suitable for use by a student or school in need. Anything that could not be re-used was responsibly recycled. The refurbished equipment is then placed directly with students.

In 2020, our communities donated more than 60,000 pounds of technology to the initiative and more than $8,000 in monetary gifts.
