John Carlson transitioned from serving on the Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union Board of Directors in 2025 to joining the organization as Director of Finance. In this role, John leads financial planning and analytics, balance sheet management, and budgeting functions, as well as overseeing the deposit products team.

Before joining Affinity Plus as an employee, John spent nearly 15 years with a large public school district in Minnesota, most recently as Chief Administrative Officer, where he managed facilities, finance, policy and innovation, student nutrition, technology, and transportation. Earlier in his career, John worked for two Minnesota-based credit unions in roles focused on member service and document processing.

He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
