Affinity Plus Foundation Awards $30,000 to One Roof Community Housing to Expand Homeownership Opportunities in Duluth
Support from the Foundation will help One Roof Community Housing expand homebuyer education and counseling services.
Saint Paul, MN (December 17th, 2024) – The Affinity Plus Foundation has awarded a $30,000 grant to One Roof Community Housing to support their mission of increasing access to homeownership for underserved families in Duluth and surrounding communities.
The funds will be directed toward assisting low-income first-time homebuyers who are nearing pre-approval for home loans. This includes offering expanded financial literacy resources which makes participants eligible for down payment assistance, helping families achieve their dream of homeownership.
“This partnership with One Roof Community Housing is a meaningful step in our ongoing efforts to support first-time homebuyers across the state,” said Jessica Volkmann, board chair at the Affinity Plus Foundation. “By empowering families with the tools and resources they need, we’re helping to build stronger communities and brighter futures.”
Through this partnership, the goal for the first year is to reach and support approximately 30 new potential homebuyers, helping to bridge the gap for individuals and families on the path to homeownership.
“Support from the Affinity Plus Foundation will help One Roof Community Housing to expand our home buyer education and counseling services, which assist low to moderate income and first-time home buyers in achieving and being successful in homeownership,” said Jackie Kemp, Senior Director, Housing Services of One Roof Community Housing.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Affinity Plus Foundation to expand homeownership opportunities through collaborations with nonprofit organizations across the state. To date, the Foundation has collectively donated $90,000 toward housing initiatives in the Twin Cities, Rochester, and now Duluth.
