To Alexandra Jennings, having her own set of wheels means freedom.

A 21-year-old Affinity Plus member living in Rochester, Alexandra recently purchased a 2017 Subaru Outback with the help from an Affinity Plus auto loan. It’s the first time she’s had a car of her own, and it’s been a long time in the making.

“I’ve been with Affinity Plus for quite a while now,” Alexandra said. “I had a debit card and then a credit card.”

Her first credit card had a low limit, to allow her to get used to using it. Soon, because of Alexandra’s responsible use of her Visa®, her spending limit increased, along with her credit score. Suddenly, buying a car seemed more possible than before, she said.

“I decided to get the auto loan, and at first I thought I would get approved for $3,000,” Alexandra said. “And then I was pre-approved for $10,000!”

The hard work she’d put in to increase her credit score and credit history had paid off, Alexandra said, and now she could find a car that would last her a long time. After spending some time looking at different makes and models, Alexandra and her parents found the Subaru Outback.

“When I sat in it, I thought, ‘This is my car,’ I just knew it,” Alexandra said. “And my mom and my dad agreed.”

She credited her parents with teaching her about finances and getting her ready for this next phase of her life, and thanked the Affinity Plus team for making the process so easy. Once she had her new set of wheels, she brought her car by the Rochester branch to show the team who’d helped her get her loan.

“It was one of the easiest things I’ve ever done in my life,” Alexandra said about getting her auto loan at Affinity Plus. “It’s a huge step, and that was the easiest part of it all.”
