Affinity Plus Welcomes Iron Range Native to Lead New Virginia Branch
Sheila Richter brings experience in banking, education and business to the role
VIRGINIA, Minn. (March 18, 2024)– Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union (Affinity Plus) today announced leadership for its newest branch in Virginia. Sheila Richter, a successful business owner, with robust experience in banking and the Virginia school system, will lead operations at the 1460 S.12th Ave. West location, leveraging her diverse background to enhance member services in the area.
“As a lifelong ‘ranger,’ I love that Affinity Plus is a community-focused organization that gives back meaningfully to the communities its a part of,” Richter said. “My career journey– from growing my business, Iron Range Apparel, to working in education and banking here– has deepened my connection with the Virginia community. I’m eager to share Affinity Plus’s programs and services with members in this community, and look forward to the positive impact we can make together.”
The new Virginia branch opened in late January to provide a close, brick-and-mortar location to more than 700 existing members in the area. This expansion deepened the credit union’s community investments and responded to members’ preferences to have close access to an in-person branch while also utilizing Affinity Plus’s top-rated mobile banking options.
As a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative, Affinity Plus is focused on offering services that make banking less stressful for its members. The branch has already begun providing high quality banking services, including better than free checking accounts, low rates on recreational vehicle loans and high yield savings accounts at its new Virginia branch. It also offers early pay, which allows members to access their regular paychecks up to two days early, improving cash flow and money management.
