Affinity Plus Spreads Kindness During 8th Annual Plus It Forward Day
Employees took part in a variety of activities including: stocking up local food shelves, writing cards for seniors, making blankets for kids in need, packing up goodies for local homeless shelters, donating new dog toys and treats to animal shelters, and so much more
“At Affinity Plus, we believe giving back moves people forward. Not only that, but doing good feels good,” said Dave Larson, President and CEO of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. “Although this year might have looked a little different given COVID-19 and we couldn’t gather in large groups, we know that the kindness never ends and won’t stop. Every year, our hope is that by scattering kindness, more kindness will result. We encourage you to spread warmth today; it could change your mood and make someone’s day a little brighter.”
Since 2013, Plus It Forward Day has elevated its core cooperative business principles of people helping people and active community engagement. In 2015, Plus It Forward Day grew to include 14 credit unions in the day’s events. In 2016, it expanded further to include 25 credit unions. In recognition of the growth, partnership and impact, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed Monday, October 16, 2016, Plus It Forward Day in the State of Minnesota. In 2017, Affinity Plus partnered with the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) to re-brand the event as CU Forward Day to include an even-larger group of credit unions, further growing the impact on Minnesota communities.
This year, more than 50 credit unions and industry partners continued the tradition and spread kindness throughout Minnesota. In total, over 4,000 volunteers dedicated approximately 6,000 hours of giveback related to the initiative.
