September 25, 2019
Affinity Plus Financial Advisors Michelle Carlson and Corey Whitcomb were recently accepted into CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc., Honors Academy.

Honors Academy is a 12-to-18 month educational enrichment program that’s customized around the needs of “seasoned” financial advisors. Participants focus on the skills required to more effectively grow their business, run their office, and take advantage of industry product knowledge.

Selection is based on advisors’ production levels, clean compliance record, passion for service, commitment to self-improvement and potential to go to the next level as an advisor.

"The great things about Honors Academy is the immediate confidence the advisor gains. They understand how to structure their practice and help members on a more comprehensive level,” said Kotchi Prosper, CRPC, Director of Investment & Retirement Services, Affinity Plus Investment Center. “The impact of the program is easily felt by both the staff in the advisor's branch and the members they serve every day."

The Honors Academy focuses on building knowledge and skills in four areas:

  1. Building your business
  2. Running your office
  3. Product knowledge
  4. Industry knowledge

Over the next several months, Carlson and Whitcomb will complete a number of activities as part of their learning experience. Some of the activities include: live training events, running your office webinars, building your business webinars, product webinars, accountability conference calls, and more.

Carlson recently celebrated her 16-year anniversary with Affinity Plus. She has been part of the Investment Center for 10 years. Carlson says she’s grateful for the opportunity to get accepted into the Honors Academy program.

“I am proud to be a financial advisor and take my role very seriously because we help our members with important areas of their lives,” said Carlson. “Over the next year in this program I will build my knowledge and skills that will help me continue to grow as an advisor.

Whitcomb has been with Affinity Plus for six years. Prior to his time with the company, he worked as a sales manager. Whitcomb says he is excited to further his skills.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to learn, share ideas, develop strategies, and best practices with my peers and mentors to help build my business inside my CU and positively impact more of the membership,” said Whitcomb.
