Get Ready for a Great Minnesota Handshake at the Great Minnesota Get-together

  • Press Release
August 16, 2019
Get ready for some fun! We are just days away from the 2019 Minnesota State Fair, which is the largest state fair in the United States by average daily attendance. It’s also marked as the second-largest state fair in the U.S. by total attendance, trailing only the State Fair of Texas.

Be sure to visit the KARE 11 Barn at the Minnesota State fair on Friday, August 30, as our President and CEO, Dave Larson, will be featured on a special broadcast in the 11 a.m. hour. There will also be a special giveaway during that time, so be sure to tune in or show up!

There’s plenty to see and do at the Minnesota State Fair – from entertainment, livestock, art and cooking, food, often on a stick, to tasty beverages. This year, Minnesota’s Credit Unions have partnered with Indeed Brewing Company and The Freehouse to create an exclusive beer for the Minnesota State Fair. It’s called, The Great Minnesota Handshake, which is a strawberry milkshake cream ale.

This ale comes in at 5.5%, brewed with strawberry, vanilla and cream.

Plus, it’s for a great cause! $1 per cup sold at the Minnesota State Fair will fund financial literacy initiatives through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation.

Wondering where you can try this delectable treat? The Great Minnesota Handshake will be available only at The Blue Barn, which is located in the West End Market for all 12 days of the State Fair.

The Great Minnesota Get-Together runs August 22 to Labor Day, September 2.
