Ginger Watson smiles in her kitchen next to some of her cookie creations.

Ginger Gourmet House of Cookies started during the pandemic. However, her love for baking started at an early age. In fact, she says that she credits her love for baking to her Grandmother and her Mother.

“My Grandmother and my Mother baked all the time, so I was always in the kitchen just watching them work their magic,” said Ginger. “I used to do cakes, and then I moved on to cookies. I definitely come from a long list of bakers and cooks in my family, and my love for baking is something I want to pass on to my kids and my grandkids.”

In December 2020, Ginger says she wanted to hold a friendly holiday bake-off competition at her home. A few family members gathered in her kitchen, filled with stacks of butter, sprinkles and supplies, and enjoyed their time baking and bonding together. Family members kept complimenting Ginger on her delectable cookies, so she knew she wanted to make it a side hustle. She started with small bags and sent samples to apartment buildings. Since then, she’s had consistent orders.

“This brings me such joy,” said Ginger. “I currently work full-time, but this business is definitely my retirement goal. I’d love for my kids and grandkids to go into a store someday and say, ‘hey, I know that brand and logo.’ I just hope that it continues to grow and that it is something to be proud of.”

What kind of cookie flavors can you expect? She has a variety: chocolate chip, sugar cookie, oatmeal raisin, pumpkin spice, and more. But as Ginger puts it, the flavors are constantly evolving.

“I’m like my own little scientist,” said Ginger. “I enjoy playing around with different flavors and spices and don’t really measure, so my flavors are always changing.”

Ginger has been an Affinity Plus member since 2020 and enjoys coming into the Roseville branch to take care of all of her business and banking needs. She says that it’s the people who make Affinity Plus great.

“Everyone has always been so wonderful to me,” said Ginger.
