News: Donations for Nepal Earthquake Relief

May 30, 2015

Only days after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated Nepal and its neighbors, the city is mourning the loss of over 4,000 lives. Left with nothing, and attempting to care for more than 6,500 injured, rescue teams and efforts have been activated even in the midst of continuing aftershocks of the strongest earthquake in more than 80 years.

This earthquake isn't just a tragedy from a distance for many of you – maybe you have been anxiously awaiting news from family and friends who reside in Nepal. Yesterday, student members from Nepal that attend college in St. Cloud and Moorhead were telling us their stories, and they have already taken action by hosting fundraising booths at the school.

Affinity Plus wants to help, so beginning today through May 30, we will be collecting donations and providing a match of $5,000. We will also be taking donations of Participation Rewards points. If you'd like to donate, simply contact us or stop by a branch location. Affinity Plus will work with the American Red Cross on how to best get the money to good use as we collect it.

Additionally, the Red Cross offers resources for people who may be searching for loved ones in Nepal or surrounding areas:

For people anywhere in the world, trying to find family members separated by crisis in other countries:

For people in the United States trying to find family members who live in the affected region:

Searching for a U.S. citizen who is in Nepal? Contact the U.S. State Department:
