Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is seeking candidates to serve in an important leadership capacity on the Board of Directors. As a financial cooperative, volunteer Board members are elected from the membership and represent the voice of all Affinity Plus members. The nine-member Board is comprised of experienced professionals in board management and leadership and have broad life, business and volunteer experience.
Three seats are up for election in 2018, and we have three incumbent Board members who have indicated interest in serving another term. They include:
- Vice Chair Ron Rollins
- Robyn Cousin
- Karen Snorek
Directors are elected to three-year terms that will commence on March 27, 2018.
Our cooperative has a diverse population of members, and we desire diverse representation on our Board of Directors. Operating within a governance model, directors are responsible for setting policies, participating in the development of the strategic plan, reviewing and approving the annual budget, and assessing the performance of the CEO/President. The Board of Directors is expected to explore new ways to strengthen and advance our credit union and the credit union movement as a whole.
Attend and actively participate in monthly meetings, typically the fourth Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. 2-3 hours.
Monitor the financial performance of the credit union through the understanding of basic finance, including the ability to read and understand a credit union’s balance sheet and income statement.
Understand the laws and regulations that govern credit unions, with the assistance of specific financial education and training that is available to refresh and enhance general financial acumen of new directors.
Ask appropriate, substantive questions of management; engage strategic discussions to enhance the future of the credit union; and substantially contribute to conversations intended to strengthen and advance Affinity Plus and the industry as a whole.
Participate in educational opportunities during the year.
Maintain confidentiality of discussions in meetings and all matters pertaining to the credit union that is not public knowledge.
The Nominating Committee welcomes interested members to apply for a Board of Directors position. To be eligible, each candidate must be a member in good standing and be at least 18 years old. Applications for consideration must be received by Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.

The Nominating Committee, a sub-committee of the Board of Directors, will evaluate all applications and select candidates for in-person interviews. All applicants will be contacted by the Committee before year-end.
