Payback just got easier with Person-to-Person transfers

I love doing everything electronic. I am avid Affinity Plus online banking user and frequently check my account using the mobile app. It's super slick to have access to view, transfer, and manage my account on the go.

And, since I love everything electronic, I rarely carry cash. As such, I have on occasion needed to pay back my sister or co-worker for the cash I borrowed for that coffee I "needed" to have. Now, I can do pay them back faster and easier with "Person-to-Person" (P2P) transfers.

Person-to-Person transfers (P2P) gives you access to send payments to anyone, anytime, anywhere through Affinity Plus online banking or the mobile app by simply entering in the recipient’s email or mobile phone number. That’s right, no account information is needed.

Here a few frequently asked questions you may ask before trying it out yourself:

Q: How does sending a P2P transfer work?

A: Within the E-Transfers tab, enter in the recipient's email address or mobile phone number, his or her first and last name, payment amount, shared secret, a personal message you'll send the transfer request to the recipient. Next, follow the instructions to complete the payment. The recipient will receive an email or text message with instructions to accept the payment.  Then, the recipient will enter a shared secret, which is similar to a password, his or her bank account information in order to complete the transfer. Funds will automatically be debited from your account and credited to the recipient's account. Funds are generally credited into the recipient's account within a few days.

Q: Does the recipient need to be a member of Affinity Plus?

A: While we'd love your friend or family member to be a member of Affinity Plus, he or she does not need to have an account here to receive your P2P transfer.

Q: Will my account information be shared with the recipient?

A: No, your bank account information will not be shared with the recipient. The recipient will only see your name and the personal message you have included in the transfer request.

Q: Are P2P transfers secure?

A: Yes, sending a P2P transfer is secure because your payee never sees your account information nor do you ever see his or her account information for the transfer. You and the recipient also share a secret, which keeps the transfer secure.

Give it a try today in your online banking account or the mobile app by selecting the "E-Transfers" tab. Let us know what you think!
