ST. PAUL, MINN. (April 26, 2019) – Today, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce it has reached a major milestone: the celebration of its 200,000th member. Jennifer Nagel from Crystal was the milestone maker, opening her account Friday afternoon at the New Hope branch with Member Advisor Chioma Ejimkonye. Over the last two years, Affinity Plus has added over 30,000 new memberships.
“We did it, and we reached this milestone by doing it together! This accomplishment would not have been possible without the loyal members who have trusted and supported our company year after year,” said Dave Larson, President and CEO of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. “Thank you for helping make this accomplishment a reality. We appreciate you and thank you for your membership, loyalty, and for trusting us to take care of all your financial needs.”
Affinity Plus was established in 1930 in the midst of the Great Depression, and is formerly known as State Capitol Credit Union. The company is a not-for-profit, financial cooperative that puts people first above profits. Affinity Plus is the seventh largest financial institution in the state of Minnesota and serves members throughout 28 branches and an industry-best mobile banking experience.
“Over the past 89 years, we’ve gone through a lot of changes and advancements as a credit union,” said Karen Foreman, Board Treasurer.” Now, to be at the point where we have welcomed our 200,000th member, it really shows that we are accomplishing the goal of providing financial solutions to people.”
In addition, Affinity Plus gives back in a variety of ways, both through financial counseling and products, and also through volunteering, sponsorships and philanthropy. Affinity Plus has received several awards and honors, being named the “Best-In-State Credit Union,” by Forbes and a Top 150 Workplace by the Star Tribune.
“As we achieve the milestone of 200,000 members, Affinity Plus is truly a beacon for the average person, family member, and business owner,” said Robyn Cousin, Board Vice Chair. “Members need a financial institution that cares about them and their finances, not those that are after their money. You can find that here.”
“It’s truly amazing to see just how far Affinity Plus has come since its beginnings in 1930. We continue to offer our members honest advice and services and strive to live our core values of Caring, Excellence, and Integrity,” added Larson. “We wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for our loyal members, along with our dedicated staff. We look forward to providing superior service to all our members in the many years to come.”
