Affinity Plus employees recognized for outstanding volunteerism with BestPrep

ST. PAUL, MINN. (May 19, 2016) – On Tuesday, two Affinity Plus employees, Sandy Olson and Bryan Schmidt, were recognized for with the Service Award from BestPrep, a non-profit organization that connects students and educational institutions with business professionals to provide financial literacy and career skills development programming. The award recognizes volunteers for their willingness to go above and beyond their commitment to providing outstanding financial education to the youth of Minnesota. Both Olson and Schmidt have been long-term volunteers with BestPrep, not only through facilitating BestPrep’s variety of programming, but also through building curriculum content, coordinating volunteer engagement events, and recruiting and supporting new volunteers.

“Affinity Plus has played a critical role in teaching financial literacy to Minnesota students,” said Bob Kaitz, president of BestPrep. “The efforts from this organization’s volunteers have been exemplary and their partnership is invaluable – we would not be able to have the impact we have on our communities without the passion and work of volunteers like Sandy and Bryan.”

Affinity Plus and BestPrep have partnered together for over a decade to provide increased community outreach and support for financial literacy initiatives across Minnesota. In 2015 alone, the partnership allowed Affinity Plus to reach over 3500 students.

“I have always felt that paying it forward is something we can all do, and BestPrep makes it easy with the relationships they’ve built with schools and businesses across the state,” said Olson. “When I hear the students share ideas with each other and find their own voice and ownership of healthy decision making, I know we are fulfilling a strong need and making a positive difference. Affinity Plus is highly committed to our members and communities, and the partnership with BestPrep allows us to have a stronger, meaningful outreach.”
