ST. PAUL, Minn. (Aug. 28, 2017) – Affinity Plus will hold a grand opening Thursday, Sept. 7, for its first next-generation branch in Atwood Memorial Center on the St. Cloud State University campus.
A ribbon cutting with the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce will be held at 10 a.m., with refreshments and activities throughout the day. Blizzard, the Huskies Athletics mascot, and the Huskies Athletics Cheer Team also will be on hand for part of the day.
Affinity Plus members; campus faculty, staff and students; and the public are invited to attend. People coming from off campus may use the self-pay public parking ramp at 526 4th Ave S.
Kate Austad, Affinity Plus market manager for the St. Cloud area, said the branch opened Aug. 16 in an expanded space the credit union has been located in for 20 years, just off the building’s main entrance.
The branch was closed all summer, and opened to rave reviews from members and others for its new, complementary design and integration into the building.
Those design components include a large, curved window that showcases the branch’s emphasis on an open design and technology including iPads, digital signage and more. The branch also features a meeting and gathering space for one or more members, a way to provide education and support when needed, Austad said.
Affinity Plus currently is building two new next-generation community branches: in Mankato, Minn., where it will be a partner to Affinity Plus’ branch on the Minnesota State University - Mankato campus; and in New Hope, Minn., where it will be the credit union’s first reach into the Twin Cities’ western metropolitan area.
Affinity Plus also has a community branch in St. Cloud, at 2835 W. St. Germain St.
