Third-week totals bring overall Month of Giving donations to more than $15,000

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Dec. 19, 2016) – Affinity Plus’ Month of Giving continues, and in its third week donations have helped the annual event raise more than $15,000 so far in December, officials said.

From Dec. 12-17, Affinity Plus member, staff and the general public donated $5,757 at the credit union’s 28 branches statewide. The credit union is matching $1,000 each week and donating to the Charity of Choice that receives the most donations.

In week three, contributors made the most donations to Children’s Minnesota. “We continue to urge everyone to donate to their favorite charity over the next two weeks,” said Dave Larson, Affinity Plus president/CEO.

Affinity Plus’ five Charities of Choice are:

Affinity Plus Foundation
American Red Cross – Minnesota Region
Children’s Minnesota
Second Harvest Heartland
Special Olympics Minnesota

Month of Giving has been an Affinity Plus fixture for three years. This year's event brought a change in that donors get to decide what matters most in their respective communities. The charity that receives the most donations statewide each week receives that additional $1,000 contribution from the credit union, Larson said.
