Second-week totals bring overall Month of Giving donations to nearly $10,000

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Dec. 12, 2016) – Affinity Plus’ Month of Giving continues, and in its second week, donations helped the annual event raise nearly $10,000 so far for December, officials said.

From Dec. 5-10, Affinity Plus member, staff and the general public donated more than $4,000 at the credit union’s 28 branches statewide. The credit union is matching $1,000 each week and donating to the Charity of Choice that receives the most donations. Its match brings donations overall to almost the $10,000 level, said Dave Larson, Affinity Plus President/CEO.

In week two, contributors made the most donations to Second Harvest Heartland and Children’s Minnesota, “but there’s lots of time to help your favorite charity be next week's winner,” he added.

Affinity Plus’ five Charities of Choice are:

Affinity Plus Foundation
American Red Cross – Minnesota Region
Children’s Minnesota
Second Harvest Heartland
Special Olympics Minnesota

Month of Giving has been an Affinity Plus fixture for three years. This year's event brought a change in that donors get to decide what matters most in their respective communities. The charity that receives the most donations statewide each week receives that additional $1,000 contribution from the credit union, Larson said.
