Get Ready to Fight Hunger with a Local Food Fight

  • Press Release
December 19, 2019
It’s not your typical food fight, but it is all for a good cause. We won’t be hurling mushy tomatoes or tossing stale hot dogs in a cafeteria, but Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is teaming up with KARE 11 and CH Robinson to participate in a food fight in support of Second Harvest Heartland.

It’s called the KARE 11 Food Fight, which is a single-day food drive on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Four KARE 11 anchor teams (#TeamRandy, #TeamJulie, #TeamBel and #TeamPerk) will compete to raise the most food for Second Harvest Heartland.

However, between now and November 26, you can support your team in advance by donating financially to their team. Stop by any of our 28 branches or call our member service line (800-322-7228) and donate to your favorite team.

But wait, who’s all on the teams?

#TeamRandy: Randy Shaver and Gia Vang

#TeamJulie: Julie Nelson and Sven Sungaard

#TeamBel: Belinda Jensen and Kris Laudien

#TeamPerk: Eric Perkins and Alicia Lewis

Here’s how it works: every $1 donated counts as 4 pounds of food for the team total. Affinity Plus will also match the donations, up to $10,000. It’s a challenge you won’t want to miss! To learn more about the Food Fight, please visit: KARE11.com/foodfight
